HOW TO GET GREEN BUSINESS CERTIFIED
The Monterey Bay Green Business program is a wonderful opportunity to implement green practices, receive onsite technical assistance, join the green business community and receive recognition from your local municipality. Here are the steps to get certified:
Step 1: Apply Online!
The Monterey Bay Green Business program is now accepting applications electronically. The registration form is available at www.greenbusinessca.org. If you have any questions, contact your local Green Business Coordinator.
The registration includes a short enrollment form to gather information about the nature of your business. You will receive a unique username and URL link to your Green Business application and the appropriate checklist for your business sector. Save your username and password to return to your checklist!
Step 2: Complete The Application
Once your business is enrolled, you can complete and submit the application checklist. You can preview the Green Business checklist for your business sector at www.greenbusinessca.org/resourcecms. Fill the checklist out as best as you can, submitting it through www.greenbusinessca.org. Once you submit your application, only the coordinator will be able to make edits to it. You can check back online or contact your local Green Business Coordinator to monitor the status of your application.
If you cannot meet all of the required measures, submit the application and we will be happy to provide you with the expertise and assistance needed to implement the required measures. Should you still have questions, please contact your local Green Business Coordinator. Before spending money on lighting and water fixture upgrades, be sure to contact us so we can direct you to any applicable rebate programs.
Step 3: Onsite Assessments
Based on the information in your submitted application, program area experts will conduct onsite assessments to verify compliance with environmental regulations and Monterey Bay Green Business standards. During their assessments they will provide technical assistance, rebate information, and money-saving tips.
Step 4: Monterey Bay Green Business recognition awarded and maintained
Congratulations! Once program area experts verify the implementation of program standards, you will be recognized as a Monterey Bay Green Business. We will send you a recognition award packet and include your business on our website and in our marketing communications.
Please note the following:
- Monterey Bay Green Business recognition is tied to your location and becomes invalid if your business moves. If your business moves, please inform us in advance.
- Monterey Bay Green Business recognition is valid for three years. At the end of the 3-year recognition period, your business will need to renew its certification by submitting a new checklist and meeting the latest program standards.
